30 Days of Vegan Bento Day 16; I Promise! Tomorrow’s Bento Will be Better!


Today’s bento is just so… YAWN! It’s boring, and I hadn’t even bothered to heat up the protein, and my bento is BORING.

I suppose this is the new year’s slump? Despite that, I said I would try to deliver one Kyaraben a week, and tomorrow is Saturday! I’ll deliver for that then! I have a super cute idea in mind, too!

PicsArt_1421377827977Usually I heat up any frozen protein sources in my bentos, but today I was so lazy that I didn’t even do that last night. Shame, I know.

So today’s bento contains Gardein’s Mandarin Crispy Chick’n, green beans and leftover couscous.

This morning I was going over my Feedly account where I follow a slew of minimalism and bento blogs. I think I’ve fallen in love with Pretend I Can Make A Decent Bento‘s style. Even though I don’t eat animal products I just adore her use of color and her layouts. Since I’m finding her bento meals aesthetically appealing, I’m going to try to make my bento meals styled a bit more like hers on a regular basis. She regularly uses about 5 ingredients(although some use more, others use less) wish makes for a good layout.

I think I’m starting to get the hang of packing my bento in threes(carb, vegetable, protein) and quite often I’ve been doing very well with the proportions(.5, .25, .25). I want to spice things up! I’m going to try to use about 4 ingredients to spice up the looks of my meals as a way to gradually increase in ability.
