Zero Waste Nerd Challenge Days 9 and 10

These two days flew sort of out the window. I really couldn’t have picked a more stressful or busy time to do this. Family visiting, the school semester ending, a kick-ass concert.

Day 9, Thursday, was returnable bottles. I didn’t have much of a chance to really look into returnable bottles for things, but I also don’t buy things that would come in such containers. I don’t drink sodas(if they were to come in such packaging), I don’t drink booze or animal based dairy. The only other thing I can think of are those coffee growlers at a local coffee shop but I’m personally a brew-at-home tea gal.

I tried to minimize waste as much as possible along the trip. the pizza shop my boyfriend and I went to allowed me to refill my glass water bottle for free(with water).

After snagging pizza we went on a submarine! I couldn’t resist snagging a few photos. Since I’m a machinist by trade, I couldn’t help but snag a photo of the on-ship lathe. I also took an artsy as all-get-out photo of the radio in there because I figured my granddad would appreciate it. Oh, and did I mention the tickets were printed on a plain cardstock? Compostable!

Then we went to the Ripley’s museum. There was this awesome wood carving. The description said that it was along the lines of against all the polluting we do and how it’s screwing up our oceans.

Then we got to the Soundstage and I’ll just let the images and captions speak for themselves. I will note my boyfriend and I aren’t into the idea of drinking, nothing against people who drink(it was a metal show) so skipping out on the alcohol wristband was a no-brainer.

Omg omg omg

I produced a lot more trash than I’d have liked. That said, we didn’t really do any shopping in Baltimore except at the merch table. I spent so much money at the merch table. I don’t buy new things often but I wanted gear from the show, you know, Standard fare, tour shirt and such. It flies in the face of how I usually shop, but you find something you love, you want to support it. I’ll be getting a tattoo with the cross of confusion on it soon, as well. Hype!

Yesterday was To-Go containers and I even went out to eat twice. I ate all my food each time because I’m a glutton. I’d even brought my bento box with me! I did end up going to a used bookstore in town, which is always fun to check out.
